Not to brag, but we’ve made a lot of our clients go viral.
The problem is when we aren't on the same page about what goes into those campaigns. Today you’ll find out 3 common client misunderstandings we sometimes run into (see if you’ve heard any of these comments from your own clients!).

So, What’s the Tea?

The TikTok Bill has officially passed.
TikTok CEO, Shou Zi Chew, shared a heart-warming video addressing TikTok users, showing his love and appreciation for them. In the video, Shou explains that over 300,000 American jobs will be lost if the bill becomes law.
Obviously, this is huge.
A ban would disrupt the ecosystem for creators, small businesses, and brands that have spent time and effort building their following. For many, it would mean a major loss of income.
Even the music industry relies on the platform to identify talent, reach new listeners, and generate revenue.
So, what can you do?
If you're a creator in the U.S., it's a stressful situation; your best bet would be to diversify the platforms you use now.
If you're a business, ensure your e-commerce is up-to-date and your customer journey is immaculate.
If you live outside the U.S., support your favourite creators and businesses by following them on different platforms, signing up for newsletters and purchasing products or services.
It's all a bit up in the air right now; our best advice is to stay updated as the situation unfolds.
This bill brought about an unlikely voice of reason over the weekend.
Controversial figure James Charles had a lot to say about the ban at the #GLAAD media awards.
The video of his discourse is doing the rounds, with many exclaiming their surprise at how well he spoke (and how right he is.)
He starts by proclaiming the ban is the "dumbest sh*t" he's ever heard.
"People are starving, people are dying, people are in jail for f***ing marijuana charges, we're in a war that we shouldn't be in in the first place, and TikTok is our most pressing concern? I don't think so."
GO OFF SIR JAMES.
We have to admit, he ate that up.
He goes on to observe how this bill went to the Senate and passed so quickly, while others never make it that far.
"Goes to show if somebody wants something done, it can be done, but we love to dilly dally and make sh*t not happen."
Join the conversation by sharing your thoughts on what he had to say. There are some golden soundbites in there for your content!

When Our Clients Want to Be Famous

One of the most important parts of working with clients is managing expectations. We need to make sure our clients understand what we're trying to achieve with their campaign so we're all on the same page.
Here are 3 types of comments we get from clients and how we respond.
"Make me famous. I want my numbers to grow now."
There are no quick fixes or magic formulas. So at first, we agree to a trial period with key deliverables. This helps us and our client assess if what they want is achievable.
We use tools like monthly reports to track engagement and impressions. Community management is what leads growth, so we place a big focus on that as well.
"Hey look, there were no leads in the first month. Let's change strategies."
Sounds right to pivot when an approach is not working, right? But creating content does not mean each piece you serve will turn into a lead.
Building your brand is about getting the word out there before you hear the cash register ring. In the world of content, showing up regularly pays off. And sometimes we need to trial things consistently before assuming they don't work.
"That post doesn’t sound like me. "
We confess, we do a lot of ghost writing for clients who trust us with their tone and style. Our discovery process is a deep dive into our clients' values and who they are. Still, we aren’t going to use the exact same words and phrases they’d use because we aren’t them.
Even though we'll never be 100% them, couldn’t that be a good thing? Think of it this way. Sometimes we go into a room and decide what version of ourselves we want to portray. We are still ourselves, but it's also a chance to change it up, be brave and show up slightly differently.

Get To Know The Team

Welcome to KWESCHENS – the inside scoop on our TAS team and what's unfolding in their lives. Each letter in KWESCHENS unveils something they'd love to share with you - you'll catch the drift.
This week, we have Devin, our newest copywriter at TAS. He also moonlights as a casual reporter at TVNZ, a pretty big and reputable television network in New Zealand.
Who's Killin it in the office?
More than anyone, it's Charlotte. I've been here a little over a month and most of it's been spent under her wing. I think she's really fantastic.
What's a Win you've recently experienced?
Clients praising my writing.
What are you most Excited for at TAS?
I'm excited about getting better and faster at writing, getting involved in more TikTok videos, and growing in all directions really.
If you had to Swap lives with a Coworker, who would you choose?
Nate. He just seems to have had an adventurous life.
What's something that you find Hard at TAS?
It's definitely switching my writing style, away from a factual, reporting style of writing to freewriting in our clients’ tone of voice for their personal brands.
What are you currently Exploring at TAS?
I still kinda wanna do some kind of reporting, like in my own style at TAS.
Naughtiest thing you've seen in the office?
I'm possibly a culprit of a naughty thing. I stole Stan's cokes out of the office fridge and then got called out on the group chat.
Favourite thing on Social media right now?
This whole Willy Wonka experience thing in Scotland.
Check out the full interview here.
Stay tuned for more KWESCHENS with the TAS team!

Ask the Editor

Q - I'm thinking about starting a podcast. What tips do you have for me? - David
Hi David!
Before you start a podcast, you need to have a really clear idea of why you're doing it. So ask yourself who your audience is, what your podcast is about, and why you're making it.
Once you know the answers to those questions, you need to think about how you're going to stay consistent. Because 90% of podcasts fizzle out after the first 3 episodes. So you need some kind of system to help you stick with it.
And then when you have that figured out, just get started. You don't need any special equipment at first. Just use your phone and start getting your reps in. Then slowly improve it over time. Good luck!
