LinkedIn’s kind of boring, right?

It’s meant to be business-y. Or is it?

Today you’re going to find out what LinkedIn’s planning to add to the platform. Spoiler alert: if you’re a fan of Wordle or Connections, you’re going to love this…

In today's newsletter:

  • Kate Middleton's still missing (here’s how you can have a bit of fun in your content while we wait for her to show up)

  • Boeing's in hot water (and if you love satire, we’ve got content ideas for you)

  • LinkedIn's being gamified?! (the inside scoop about upcoming changes on the platform)

  • The dumbest excuse for not being on a social media platform (I hope you aren't using it!)

So, What’s the Tea?

While kids will be out hunting for Easter eggs next week, we’re all still on the hunt for Kate Middleton.

The Princess is still incognito; at this point, even Kim Kadarshian says she’s on the lookout.

The tabloids assure us that Kate's meant to be back by Easter.

So how can you hop on this trending topic in your socials?

  • Create an Easter hunt for your colleagues using chocolates and little cutout pics of the Princess. Make sure to film the fun for your content.

  • Make a fake hunt around your office with little clues that the Princess has visited your place of work. Then create content around your team finding the clues.

  • Do a green screen video of you showing your great Photoshop skills. Make sure to prove how you're so much better than Catherine and her team.

Okay, jokes aside, we hope that Kate Middleton is safe and healthy (wherever she is).

In other news, Boeing's whistleblower case is heating up.

Boeing is facing renewed scrutiny after whistleblower John Barnett's tragic death. Barnett, who alleged faulty oxygen systems on 787 Dreamliners, was found dead days after testifying against the company.

The FAA confirmed missing parts, but Boeing denies they did anything wrong. This adds another layer to the ongoing 737 Max saga. Many are questioning whether the company prioritises profit over safety. Especially after an emergency door flew off mid-flight on a brand new 737 Max 9...

If I didn't have flight anxiety before, I sure as hell do now.

Here's how you can use this trending topic to engage your audience:

  • Create a video outlining some tips and tricks to avoid flying on a Boeing 737 Max.

  • Make a satire video about Boeing's new 'self-destruct mode' in which the plane combusts when it senses danger.

  • Use a green screen effect to pretend you're on a plane. Then show all the DIY defects you find, like blue tac used to weld the windows in place. See what crazy ideas you can come up with!

Is LinkedIn Turning Users into Pro Gamers?

LinkedIn’s adding puzzle-based games to the platform. It's an apparent attempt to ride the same wave as puzzle games like Wordle, while also encouraging users to have a bit more fun!

Business professionals -- and pro gamers?!

LinkedIn's a notoriously serious platform, where everyone's a professional and there's no fun and games... until now.

According to a scoop from TechCrunch, the platform is working on a new games experience. LinkedIn hopes to ride the wave of puzzle-mania that's seen games like Wordle and Connections blow up.

A LinkedIn spokesperson confirmed the gaming dirt dug up by TechCrunch. However, there's no launch date yet.

What games can you play?

According to app researcher Nima Owki, who's dug through LinkedIn's code, there'll be a few different games to try. Companies will show up on leaderboards depending on their employees' scores.

Naturally, we have questions about Microsoft's involvement. After all, they own LinkedIn as well as some major video game companies. The tech behemoth manages Xbox Game Studios, Activision Blizzard and ZeniMax. Of course, they've overseen major titles like Halo, World of Warcaft and The Elder Scrolls franchise.

LinkedIn's spokesperson declined to say how and if Microsoft would be involved.

The new Facebook?

If I can be candid for a moment, LinkedIn's gaming news takes this epic gamer back to the early days of Facebook. I loved playing Crime City and Trivia Crack with strangers across the world.

Of course, LinkedIn wants more cerebral games on its platform. But it's selling the feature as something that'll make the platform more social and less snobby.

“We’re playing with adding puzzle-based games within the LinkedIn experience to unlock a bit of fun, deepen relationships, and hopefully spark the opportunity for conversations,” the LinkedIn spokesperson told TechCrunch.

We just have to wait and see if LinkedIn starts to feel more Facebook-y. And if it does, we'd better crease up those suits and get ready for FUN!

Q - I want to start making content for Instagram. But so many people in my niche are already on the platform. Is there any point trying? - Nat

Hi Nat,

Ok, I get where you're coming from. But there's a problem with thinking there’s no point trying to get on a new platform.

Because sure, there might be a lot of people in your niche already on IG. But think about how many people are consuming content on the platform, too.

There's almost unlimited potential to get attention on there. You just have to make content that's good enough that people really want to watch it.

How? Just look at what other people in your niche are doing, then make your content better. Get feedback from your audience. Then keep improving your content as you go along.

The worst thing you could do is keep waiting when you could be on your way to growing your audience!
