If you haven’t heard of the Fediverse yet, you’re about to.
Eventually, the Fediverse could allow you to communicate with your audience across platforms rather than needing an account on each one. Today, we’ll break down what you need to know.

The Fediverse is a growing collective of social networks allowing cross-platform communication. In time, the Fediverse could make it easier to manage and grow a presence across several platforms.
Step aside, Marvel Cinematic Universe - there's a new kind of multiverse in the works.
Meet the Fediverse.
What's the Fediverse, you ask?
Its name is a clever marriage between 'federation' and 'universe.'
Through the Fediverse, social media servers share information with each other. This means users can connect, discover and communicate across platforms, so long as they're compatible.
Okay, that was a lot of words...what do they actually mean?
Let's simplify this. Think about how email works.
If you use Yahoo, but your friend uses Outlook, you can still contact each other because both platforms conform to the same protocol.
Most social networks don't do this and work within their own protocol. But, the Fediverse could change this through its 'open social networking' protocol.
This could mean, for example, your Threads posts could show up on Tumblr. Or you could potentially use a Reddit profile to follow Pinterest users.

Rent the Runway Uses AI to Make a Comeback

Rent the Runway revolutionized fashion by allowing women to rent designer dresses. Despite facing challenges during the pandemic, RTR has made a strong comeback this year, largely due to their strategic use of AI.
ALL GIRLS KNOW THE DILEMMA.
Okay maybe not all girls. But broke girls like me.
You have an event. Not just any regular-degular event, though.
Maybe it’s a wedding. Or maybe it’s at an extremely classy venue you have no business being at. Maybe your ex AND your ex best friend are attending.
M-me? Speaking from experience? HAHA, pshh, never.
ANYWAY. You have nothing to wear in your closet that fits the brief, and your salary does not cover designer dresses. Particularly not one you’re only going to wear to a singular event.
If only there was some kind of service…
Oh wait. There are TONS.
And it’s all thanks to one business that started it all.
Rent the Runway was founded by Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Fleiss in November 2009. And since then, the company’s had to innovate again and again to keep up with cultural trends and customers’ fluctuating behaviours.

Trend Plug - You Look Like You Love Me

Today’s trend originates from the romantic country song ‘You Look Like You Love Me’ by Ella Langley, featuring Riley Green.
The heartfelt lyrics have inspired TikTok users to create sentimental videos, showcasing moments of love and affection.
Some people are using this sound to show appreciation for their significant others. But with almost 100k videos (and counting) using the sound, people have used it for all sorts of niche videos, too.
How to jump on this trend:
Using this sound, film a moment where someone or something made you feel adored. Add onscreen text to describe what happened. Don't forget to lip-sync the lyrics, 'You look like you love me.'
A few ideas to get you started:
When the client approves my campaign idea
When people clean out the office fridge without being asked to do so
Me to my intern when they drop off a coffee on my desk

Ask the Editor

Q - I've just started on LinkedIn. What's the best way to build my network? - Petra
Hey Petra!
If I were you, I'd start by connecting with people in your industry. Try to send 10 connection requests every day to begin building up your network.
The next thing I'd do is comment on other people's posts. Look for posts that already have other people having conversations about your industry in the comments. When you comment, your response will show up in your network's feeds, so it's a good way to start getting your name out there.
Another advantage of commenting on other people's posts is you get to see what conversations are happening around your industry right now. You can use that information as inspiration for your own posts, which will mean you'll know what you're writing about is relevant right now.
The more time you spend interacting with people on the platform, the faster you'll grow your network.
