Jony's Wrap Up || Saturday, 13 April

The madness continues...

I say that like it's surprising lol. Imagine TAS not being chaotic 👀

Here's what went down:

  • More improvements to our newsletter yeyuh

  • New faces on the YAP Podcast and they killed it!!!

  • We went viral on TikTok after talking about launching our new storyline structure. suksess.

  • The team is back on LinkedIn—NOICE. Found our flow again.

  • Antics continue in the TAS office

We're back in the game baby. Found our momentum. The true test is to see if we can keep it up! Have a beautiful weekend. Ciao for now.

LET’S BREAK IT DOWN:

Your ATTN Please

We've officially done over 50 newsletters now, which is pretty cool! A big part of getting better at something is just getting the reps in, and that's exactly what we're doing.

So what went well?

  • This week, we gained back the subs we'd lost over the last few weeks. Probably because we had a 4 million view video, which got a lot of people clicking that link in bio!

  • Sophie, our pop culture queen and newsletter graphic designer, is officially going full-time with the newsletter! This means we'll have the capacity to do more fun stuff.

What could have gone better?

  • Although we keep talking about it, we still haven't gotten our promotional plan together. Our top priority is to get a steady flow of new subs coming in, so we need to get our sh&t together ASAP.

  • Our tl;dr carousels on Stan’s LinkedIn still aren't working. This is probably because they aren't really targeted to Stan's audience. We need to work on creating better hooks and graphics that will be more relevant and engaging.

The main thing we've learnt this week is to just keep trying stuff. If something's not working, don't keep doing it and hope it will magically get better. Just try something else instead.

YAP Podcast

Lots of change again, including a huge influx of viewers.

So, what went well?

  • We had a viral series on our TikTok this week which mentioned the YAP podcast. This led to a lot of engagement as people tried to figure out what the podcast was about. This culminated in our biggest podcast episode to date with 155 views, 4X our typical viewership for YAP.

  • Jony and I had other things on and couldn't make it to filming a few days, but Sam and Tyla subbed in and absolutely nailed it. Their short-form videos did better than most of Jony and mine do.

What could have gone better?

  • I struggled to communicate what kind of brief I wanted from the team. That led to briefs that lacked substance, which meant our podcast wasn't great.

  • However, we have fixed this and now have an idea of what type of creators we want to talk to. Knowing that will drive quality conversation between Jony and me. Now we need the right structure to make the most out of it. Stay tuned as we figure this out.

We've re-learnt that greater viewership in one area provides greater viewership in all areas. So the more we can grow other channels the more YAP will grow.

Now we also understand that promotion of the show needs to be priority #1 so we have a session on Monday to nail this.

TAS Shortform Video Storylines

Success! We hit a 4 MILLY view video.

So what went well?

  • We back on our bullsh*t. Our new storyline came out this week and it did not disappoint.

  • The increased viewership led to a bunch of flow on effects. More clicks to our link in bio, more viewers on YAP Podcast and new subscribers to our newsletter!!! Major slay.

  • We're on the rise again with an increase of 6,000 new followers on TikTok. Nice to see after our gradual decrease. from 720k to 702k....

  • The team is more involved. This not only makes my heart swell with joy because I love their contributions, but it also means my job gets a little easier! Loving the incorporation of new characters on our socials <3

What could have gone better?

  • We had a successful storyline but we could've harnessed that attention better.

  • This week we'll look at supporting content that continues to keep our audience in our world. This means more trends, conversations, and vlogs around the same conflict that is released in the storyline. If we had done that this week, we may have possibly doubled our viewership. Good to know as we move forward.

So this week, we learnt successes can always be better. We talk about using service content to further enhance our audience's experience of our content, but I think I fell short on that front.

In the next coming weeks, there will definitely be more planning around how our service content can further support the acquisition content (storylines).

LinkedIn

Woohoo! We've cracked it. And, we have so many things happening on LinkedIn in the next few weeks - so excitingggggg.🤩

So what went well?

  • The TAS team is posting way more on LinkedIn. And, we haven't even started officially rolling out the personal brand plan so it's really cool to see the initiative from the wider team.

  • To build on that, we're in the process of implementing an accountability system. This will help us maintain the drive for the team to keep producing content for their personal brands. Nothing better than positive peer pressure, amirite?

  • Stanley's LinkedIn also had a few bangers go out, averaging around 8,000 views per post. What we did differently this time was lean into outrageous success stories, like "5M dollar investment potential" and "not wanting to stay in NZ to make $1M in profit" this year. We’ve effectively tailored the content to his audience and the numbers tell us we nailed it! Side note: Boss man is also on the way to hitting 16K followers.

  • The Attention Seeker home page is also bringing in amazing numbers, like 2.4K search appearances and 29.8K post impressions.

What could have gone better?

  • As we roll out the TAS team personal brand project, we're building out a system for everyone to build out their plans and look at each other’s for inspiration. We're still working out the kinks but we're getting there.

  • Knowing what works with Stanley's LinkedIn audience, we are doubling down on tailoring his content, particularly his carousels, to his audience.

This week, we learnt there's no such thing as a one size fit all content strategy, even with LinkedIn. Your focus should always be your audience, listening to them, understanding them, and communicating to them in the language that they use.

TAS IRL

As much as we try to capture all our shenanigans for your entertainment, sometimes cool sh*t happens offline.

Here's what's gone down at TAS IRL this week:

Our very own Soggy Kebab (aka Sam) celebrated his one year anniversary at TAS on Thursday. He’s acquired many titles over the last year: intern daddy, client killer, and show host being a few of them. He kills it with his clients and brings the energy sassy to the office. TAS wouldn’t be the same without him.

We had our quarterly leadership meeting and planned out the next 3 months in the business. We’re making a few changes to our internal accountability chart and have heaps of exciting projects coming up next quarter. Our coach, Deb, spoiled us with all the treats and it was a great way for our leadership team to regroup.

Nate’s home from New York. We’re so happy to have our head of strategy back in the house. Most of all, Stan’s stoked he doesn’t have to deal with half of us anymore.

Connor and Leigh are on tour with Six60. The boys hit the road in their rented campervan and have spent the week touring the Far North. Pretty freaking cool if you ask me.

Stan and co. are touring new office spaces today. We’ve officially outgrown our headquarters and are on the hunt for a new home. Know any office spaces for lease in central Auckland? Hit us up!
