Stanley's Book Club || Sunday, 3 March

1,887 words later!
Welcome back to my Sunday Book Club, where you can follow along on my book writing journey AND read my drafts every week.
What's in this newsletter?
The highs, the lows, the ugly truth. Every week, Charlotte interviews me to see what’s really happening as I create this book. This week, I’ve been writing consistently but I’ve realised I need to start doing some more research to solidify my ideas.
My side of the story. Here’s where I’ll update you on what I’ve been writing about. This week I started fleshing out the idea of content systems. I’ve been writing about how important systems are in building a content machine that consistently delivers.
Read my book as I write it. This week has been a bit scattered as I jumped from topic to topic. I did write out some overarching themes that explain each chapter in a few sentences. These will give you an idea of where I’m trying to head with this book.
Let's get into it....

The Highs, The Lows & The Ugly Truth

Ok guys, I'm back with the insider info about what's really going on as Stan writes his book. Read on to find out how this week's gone…
This week’s highs:
Book writing time is locked in. This week, Stan's been consistently spending time on his book every day. Looks like he's serious about writing this thing!
Getting those ideas on (virtual) paper. Stan's book coach asked him to create a LinkedIn post about each concept in his book. This has been a good way for him to get his main ideas down before fleshing them out.
This week’s lows
Has this book already been written? Every book is just a remix of what's already been written, at least to some extent. This week, Stan's been thinking about how to make sure his book has a unique take on the attention first concept.
So many questions! The more Stan talks to other people about this book, the more questions come up. He has to keep revisiting his ideas as he hones in on what the key messages should be.
The ugly truth
Research is super time-consuming. This book can't just be a bunch of Stan's anecdotes. It needs real case studies to prove that the concepts actually work. But interviewing people takes a lot of time. Stan's realising this is going to have to happen after work hours because his days are already packed.

494 Pieces of Content Per Week

This number is crazy. Who would ever in their right mind think that putting out 494 pieces of content per week would be a good idea? But that’s exactly what I’m doing. And the only way I can do this is that I’ve built a content system.
You can’t brute force your way to 494 bits of content. You’ll often hear from marketing gurus to ‘JUST’ make more content. I’ve even said it before. But it isn’t very good advice for most people because it’s extremely hard to “just create content” at scale. You need a system to get it done.
So, what’s a system? A system is a way of creating content that doesn’t require willpower. The simplest way to build a system is to pay someone else to do it. This is what people do when they hire us. But, sometimes, you don’t have the resources for that. So creating your own system might mean scheduling time to create content every day. You might use AI. You might have templates. Or you might follow trend pages on TikTok so you know which trends to use in your content each day.
The chapter I’m writing on content systems will be the most practical part of the book. Much of my book will be theory, anecdotes, case studies and ideas. And those only help you so much. However, the chapter on content systems is going to be a very practical step-by-step guide you can use to build your own system. In this chapter, you’ll also learn how to implement them into your creator journey or business marketing plan. Obviously, if you’re subscribed to this newsletter, you can read it as I write it.
I desperately want feedback on this section so I know how to make it clearer and easier for you to follow. So, as I start to release these bits, ask me lots of questions.
Here’s the good bit.
You can actually read my drafts below.
Check out the big picture plan of my entire book to see where this is heading.
And here’s what I wrote this week.
Remember, the whole reason I’m sharing this is because I want you to help me make it better. So please be brutal and give me feedback.
I can take it.
Cheers,
