Why your brand should be on Pinterest

I have a confession to make.

At least a third of my personality is crafted solely from my Pinterest algorithm.

I refuse to be ashamed. Pinterest is a wonderful world. It gives me inspiration for my artwork, my writing, my outfits. It’s got memes, and obscure niche references you would only ever find on this corner of the internet. And it does it ALL without the social aspect.

It’s an artsy little introverts dream, and if I could run away to Pinterest land and leave you all behind, I would.

Turns out, I’m not the only one that loves doomscrolling pretty pictures.

Pinterest has just shared their latest performance update. The platform has seen a massive increase in active users in Q1 of this year. They've also nearly doubled their revenue growth rate from the prior quarter. Pinterest now has 518 million monthly active users!

CEO Bill Ready credits this growth to their “investments in AI and shoppability, driving even greater returns for advertisers and gaining access to performance budgets.”

And there’s no denying the app has been steadily evolving.

With creative ad options, and in-app innovations, Ready clearly wasn’t lying when he said they by focusing on experiences that users want. It's clear the platform is “finding their best product market fit in years.”

Add in the fact that more users mean more opportunities, and you’ve got a whole lot of potential brewing here.

So, if you’re not already in magical Pinterest land (why?) here’s some tips from a self-proclaimed Pinterest baddie on how to start.

THE number ONE RULE of Pinterest, and I cannot stress this enough, is that YOUR CONTENT HAS TO BE ENGAGING AND CAPTIVATING. Pinterest is all about the ⋆.˚aesthetic .⋆˚. Anything that doesn’t fit into that box is going to stand out (in the worst way).

So how do you make ⋆.˚aesthetic ⋆.˚content specifically for Pinterest?

  • Vertical imagery. Data shows that 82% of people use Pinterest on their phones. Avoid being a victim to the awkward crop by aiming for a 2:3 aspect ratio.

  • Text overlays. Use a headline that reinforces your visual message. And make sure the font is cute!

  • Descriptive copy. This helps with SEO and adds context to your piccies, which will drive users to click your links.

  • Tasteful branding. If it doesn’t look nice, it will be cropped out and your brand will be lost in the "repin" shuffle.

Good luck out there, soldiers x
