Why Your Brand Should Be on Pinterest

I have a confession to make.

At least a third of my personality is crafted solely from my Pinterest algorithm.

Turns out, I’m not the only one that loves doomscrolling pretty pictures.

Pinterest has just shared their latest performance update. The platform has seen a massive increase in active users in Q1 of this year. They've also nearly doubled their revenue growth rate from the prior quarter. Pinterest now has 518 million monthly active users!

CEO Bill Ready credits this growth to their “investments in AI and shoppability, driving even greater returns for advertisers and gaining access to performance budgets.”

There’s no denying the app has been steadily evolving.

Add in the fact that more users mean more opportunities, and you’ve got a whole lot of potential brewing here.

So, if your brand’s not already in magical Pinterest land (why?) here’s some tips from a self-proclaimed Pinterest baddie on how to start.

Puma Hopes to Make a Comeback in 2024

For the first time in over 10 years, Puma has launched a global campaign. Following a few years of steady decline, the brand hopes their new slogan, "See The Game Like We Do: Forever. Faster.” will reignite interest in the brand.

In these economic times, most sportswear companies are struggling. When the cost of living is so high, it's hard to justify buying a new pair of sneakers if you don't really need them!

But for Puma, things have been in decline for a few years already. Puma's brand image is currently lower than most of their competitors, according to its YouGov BrandIndex score.

So Puma has decided it's the perfect time to launch their first global brand campaign in over 10 years. As of 10 April, they've updated their "Forever. Faster." slogan to "See The Game Like We Do: Forever. Faster.”

So why is Puma refreshing their brand?

Something had to change. Looking at Puma's YouGov BrandIndex score, the brand ranks below Nike, Adidas, Reebok, New Balance, and Under Armour. So it was certainly time to try something new!

Trend Plug

Today’s trend is all about mindfulness. But it ain’t all kombucha and yoga pants.

The original Be Mindful video that started this trend was about how women should act (or not act) when they get invited into somebody’s section in the club. Due to its misogynistic undertones, TikTok thought it was ridiculous. So creators have taken it upon themselves to make their own satirical versions.

The lyrics are NSFW, so you can find them here.

How to use this trend:

Use the caption: “Be mindful of why you XYZ” and add a scenario someone should be grateful for. The song is used as a transition to show how you shouldn’t act, and then how you should, marked with a big red X, and then a green tick.

Examples:

  • “Be mindful of why you were adopted” - Someone’s cat acting up/ being cuddly.

  •  “Be mindful of why you are a boyfriend” – Him gaming/ curling her hair, folding laundry.

You get the gist.

Ask the Editor

Q - I'm in a small team and am responsible for producing all our content. Should I try to post on multiple platforms or should I focus on just nailing one? - Bekah

Hey Bekah!

If you have limited resources (which you do!), I'd focus on just 1-2 platforms for now. Think about where your target audience is, and hone in on that platform.

If you haven't already, put together a really clear content strategy. This will help you make the most of your time, because all content you produce should point to this North Star.

My last suggestion is to make sure you don't just post and ghost! If you're going to go all-in on 1-2 platforms, put in the effort to connect with your community there.

You can definitely build a valuable audience without being on every single platform. But you do have to put the time in to build relationships there.
