Budweiser Turns Real Songs into Ads

Budweiser's new Spotify ad campaign doesn't actually involve ads, but uses songs that mention the brand's name. It's a smart approach that ties the brand closer to the music-centric angle it’s been building itself around.

The company's just introduced "UninterruptAds" in Brazil. This means free Spotify listeners won't hear Budweiser ads between songs. Instead, they'll hear real songs that mention the brand's name.

The idea was driven by Budweiser's efforts to get closer to the music scene. And, surprisingly, the brand name shows up in over 500 songs on the platform.

What's the UninterruptAds campaign all about?

Spotify's free version is handy, but famously annoying with its vibe-killing ads.

So rather than using sudden and jarring ads, Budweiser is selling itself more organically to listeners and artists alike. But they aren't just adding in songs that mention their name. They're choosing songs that actually suit the playlist being listened to.

So if you're listening to a reggae playlist, Budweiser will sneak in a reggae song that mentions the brand rather than an ad or a random Budweiser-esque song.

Good Marketing is Good Marketing

Is being a successful NSFW Creator the same as being a successful marketer? One creator, who’s been dubbed “the internet’s boyfriend," has perfected the art of building a successful personal brand.

Being a (successful) 🌽 star is just really good personal branding...

If you're waiting for a punch line, I'm sorry to tell you but there is none. I'm dead serious.

We all know that sex sells. But not just anybody can sell it.

You have to be desirable in a way that has some sort of mass appeal.

But OnlyFans isn't a social media platform nor is it a category database like say, YouTube. So professional NSFW creators have to work hard to craft and promote their personal brand to get people to subscribe so they can make money.

One creator is particularly good at what he does because he totally gets this concept.

Girthmasterr (yes, you read that right), said in an interview, "I'm a business focused on customer acquisition and customer retention."

The rising star recently revealed he makes $80,000 a month, all from OnlyFans. However, he credits his success to "being a successful marketer."

Late Night Finds: Nostalgia Galore

Nostalgia's everywhere on TikTok right now. And many creators are using this sound to bring us back to the good old days. The audio, which is from the song Scars by Novulent, has a comforting, almost reflective energy to it.

This sound is inspiring creators to comb through their long-lost memories on their phone, especially those of their pre-pandemic life.

Some are sharing nostalgic videos of themselves, their friends and their surroundings at the time. Others are posting videos they recorded at sports events they attended years ago.

How can you jump on this trend?

  • Show off videos of you at major events from the last few years (like this)

  • Spotlight a cute, wholesome moment you randomly recorded (like this)

  • Share what you were up to a couple years ago--think old snapchat memories (like this)

Ask the Editor

Q - You guys talk so much about making video content but there's no way I could get my team to be ok being filmed. Is there a way around that? -Desmond

Hey Desmond,

I totally get that not everyone is ok being on camera. And, to be honest, if you're trying to convince them and they aren't comfortable, the footage won't be any good.

My suggestion is to focus on creating written content instead. You'll need to get some photos of your team. Then each person needs to come up with some content pillars they're going to write about. If you think writing posts is going to be a struggle, too, you may want to look into getting a ghostwriter to help.

There's not much point forcing people to create content they aren't comfortable doing. You're better off choosing a content style that will actually be effective!
